1) What is the difference between 6A and 6/16A?

The 6A socket is for lighter loads such as chargers, TVs, computers and lamps. The dual-rated 6/16A socket accepts both 6A and 16A plugs and can handle appliances up to 16A (about 3,800W at 240V), such as geysers, microwaves, refrigerators, irons and vacuum cleaners. If a heavy appliance might ever be plugged in, choose 6/16A.

2) What wire size should I use?

Use 1.5 sq mm copper wire for the 6A socket and a 2.5 sq mm copper wire loop for the 6/16A socket. Thinner wire on a 16A point can overheat. Always follow local electrical codes and use a licensed electrician.
