Anchor PVC Surface Box, White is a modular box that mounts directly on the wall surface to house switches, sockets, dimmers and other modular accessories. It is ideal where wiring runs on the wall rather than inside it – such as renovations, basements, garages, workshops and industrial spaces – so you can add switch points without breaking or re-plastering walls.

Made from PVC, it is lightweight, easy to install, non-conductive and resistant to corrosion. It encloses the wiring and connections to protect them from knocks and dust, and helps contain sparks in case of an electrical fault. Available in 2 to 12 module sizes, from a single switch point to a full switch panel, in a clean white finish.

1) What is the difference between a surface box and a flush box?

A surface box is fixed on top of the wall, so it sits out from the wall surface. A flush (concealed) box is set inside the wall and sits level with the plaster. Surface boxes are ideal for renovations and places with exposed wiring, where cutting into walls isn't practical.

2) How do I choose the right module size?

Add up the modules of everything you want to fit. A standard switch takes 1 module, while most sockets take 2 modules. For example, 2 switches and 1 socket need 4 modules. For larger panels with several switches, sockets, dimmers or USB chargers, choose 6, 8 or 12 modules.

3) Why choose PVC over a metal (GI) box?

PVC boxes are lighter, easier to install, don't rust in damp areas, are non-conductive and cost less. Metal boxes give more impact protection and are preferred for heavy-duty or high-risk industrial areas.

4) Can I use it outdoors?

It is made for indoor dry or damp areas. For outdoor or exposed locations, use a box specifically rated for outdoor or wet use, with weatherproof covers.

5) Do I need to earth a PVC surface box?

The PVC box itself does not need earthing, as it doesn't conduct electricity. However, the earth wire must still run through the box to the sockets, switches and any metal fittings to keep the circuit safely earthed.

6) Will other brands' switches fit?

It is designed for Anchor modular switches and accessories. Other brands may not fit properly, so for the best fit, look and warranty, use Anchor modules and plates.
